PITTSFIELD – Some homecoming activities at Maine Central Institute have been canceled this weekend after an undisclosed “incident” at the school.

WABI-TV reported Thursday night that the incident involved an alleged hazing.

Head of School Joanne Szadkowski told the Bangor Daily News that an “incident” had occurred, but refused to be specific. “It’s a school thing.”

Pittsfield police also confirmed that an incident had occurred Wednesday, but that nobody had been charged as of Thursday evening.

Some homecoming activities were canceled, according to the MCI athletic director, Julie Treadwell. No sporting events were canceled.

MCI is a private school with about 500 students in grades nine through 12 as well as post-high school college prep. It serves high school-age students from Pittsfield, Detroit and Burnham.
