DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce will host an informational meeting on the Tax Payer Bill of Rights at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA in Dover-Foxcroft.
The goal of the meeting is to give voters an opportunity to learn more about TABOR before the Nov. 7 election, according to Dennis Lyford, Chamber director.
This will be an informational meeting, not a debate. The Chamber will allow each side to make a 15-minute presentation outlining their positions, followed by written questions from those in attendance.
Making the presentation for TABOR will be Mary Adams of Garland, and making the presentation against TABOR will be Jeff Austin of the Maine Municipal Association. The meeting will be moderated by Jonathan Daniels, chief executive officer of Eastern Maine Development Corp.
The meeting is open to Chamber members and the general public. For more information, contact Lyford at 564-7533.
