SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Giants first baseman and outfielder Mark Sweeney underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday and is expected to be ready in time for spring training.

Team orthopedist Ken Akizuki performed the procedure on the former University of Maine All-American, who was scheduled to begin rehabilitation Monday.
