Md. man charged with furnishing drugs

BANGOR – A Maryland man was arrested and charged with aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs early Sunday morning.

Officer Jason Stuart pulled over a vehicle at 12:15 a.m. on Odlin Road after noticing the driver indecisively driving around in a hotel parking lot and nearly driving over a median when he attempted to leave the lot.

According to the police report, the driver, Ralph Pickett, 46, seemed very nervous while explaining to Officer Stuart that he was just looking for a hotel room for the night.

Officer Stuart observed blood on Pickett’s hands and asked him where it had come from. Pickett explained that he had helped move a dead moose off the road on his way to Bangor and had cut some meat off for himself. It later was confirmed that there had been an accident involving a moose earlier that night.

Officer Stuart asked Pickett whether he had been drinking or using drugs, and he said he had not. The report stated that the officer asked him what the date was and who the president was. Pickett responded “October 10” and “Bill Clinton” and corrected himself after more thought.

Pickett then admitted that he was on methadone, but the drugs were prescribed. He agreed to allow the officers to search his truck.

Officer Steve Pelletier helped search Pickett’s vehicle and found three packages of a mixture of cocaine and heroin.

Pickett was taken into custody and transported to Penobscot County Jail.

A 24-year-old Brewer man was arrested early Sunday after getting into a fight at a Bangor nightclub and then refusing to leave the scene.

Officer Chris Desmond responded to a call at 1:30 a.m. saying that a fight had broken out at Club Fusion on Franklin Street.

According to the police report, Ryan Crowley was outside the club arguing with an employee who was trying to get him to leave. Officer Desmond approached and noted that Crowley was very intoxicated. The officer told Crowley that if he did not leave he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.

The man agreed to leave and said he would walk home, but as he was leaving he turned around and began to argue again, cursing at the officer and telling him to “take [him] to jail.”

Officer Desmond arrested Crowley and took him to Penobscot County Jail. Crowley was charged with disorderly conduct.
