Maine’s firearms deer season is rapidly approaching, and plenty of area organizations are finishing up their plans for annual hunters breakfasts.

Here’s a partial list of the breakfasts that are scheduled:

. At Madawaska, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Oct. 21 from 5-9 a.m., door prizes and a gun raffle are planned.

. At Eddington, at the Eddington Salmon Club, Oct. 28 from 4-9 a.m., adults $6, children 12 and under $3.

. At Hartland, the Hartland-St. Albans Lions Club breakfast on Oct. 28, 4-8 a.m., $5 per person.

. At Dedham School, Oct. 28 from 4-9 a.m., $5 for adults, $3 for children, $12 for a family of four, door prizes and raffles are planned.

. At Pittsfield, held by the St. Agnes School at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Dobson Street, Oct. 28 from 4-10 a.m., $5 adults, $4 for children under 10.

. At Penobscot, by the Penobscot Fire Department at the firehouse, Oct. 28 from 4-8 a.m., $6 per person.

Sportsman’s forum on tap

The Bucksmills Rod & Gun Club in Bucksport will host a sportsman’s forum on Wednesday. Supper will be served at 6 p.m., with the forum to follow.

The meal costs $5, but those wishing to attend only the forum have free admission.

The forum will feature presentations and question-and-answer sessions with Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife commissioner Roland “Danny” Martin, as well as biologists, wardens, and advisory council members.

Izaak Walton League meeting set

The Maine Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America will hold its annual meeting on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at Maine Audubon’s Fields Pond Nature Center in Orrington.

The public is welcome. There will be a social hour from noon until 1 p.m.

Speakers will be Rick Summer, the regional governor of the IWLA for Region VI; Merry Gallagher, a fisheries biologist for the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife; Ian Burnes of the Northern Forest Alliance, and Mark McCullough of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
