Joey, 11, active and well-liked

Joey is an intelligent, active and artistic 11-year-old who enjoys spending time playing his Game Boy video game.

Joey helps out around the house and says he “doesn’t mind” doing his chores. He explains that he keeps his room tidy and cleans the bathroom.

At summer camp this year, Joey learned how to play cribbage. He enjoyed camp, particularly swimming and roller-skating. He does well in school and is mainstreamed in most of his classes.

Joey is quite imaginative and likes to tell stories. He is well-liked by his teachers. He would love to go to Florida and visit Disney World. Joey does well in the community and enjoys community outings.

The best family for Joey would be one that has older children and a very structured routine. He will do well in a family that provides motivation for him to experience new things and try new activities.

Joey is one of the 155 children in the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.

For information about Joey or other children available for adoption, contact A Family for ME toll-free at (877) 505-0545 or visit www.AFamilyForMe.org and see gallery of photographs of some of the children awaiting a “forever family.”
