ORRINGTON – A special election is scheduled for Monday so residents can decide who will fill a vacant seat on the school committee and another on the Board of Selectmen.

Three people would like to fill the empty selectman’s seat, and two are running for one spot on the school board.

Lori Callnan and Kathy Lawrence are running against each other for the school board, and resident Wayne Cartier is running against former Selectman Paul White and former Selectwoman Christine Lavoie for the selectman’s seat.

David Levine resigned from the Board of Selectmen to take a job in Portland, and Nancy Snyder resigned from the school board to teach art at Center Drive School.

Voters should head to the town hall between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, to cast their ballots.
