BANGOR – Joshua Bartlett recorded the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half to lead Husson College past Lyndon State 1-0 Saturday in men’s soccer action, but the best the Eagles could do against University of Maine-Presque Isle Sunday was settle for a 3-3 double-overtime tie.

On Saturday, Jon Cowie finished with six saves on 13 shots for the 11-3-1 Eagles.

Jeff Giroux made eight saves on 13 shots for the 5-7-1 Hornets.

On Sunday, Matt Petrie tied the game at three on a Travis Parent assist with 2:33 left in regulation for the UMPI.

Joseph Pinault and Robert Allan added goals for 5-5-1 UM-Presque Isle. Scott Clenchy blocked six of nine shots.

Nattapong Kougsuriya scored two goals for 11-3-2 Husson College. Hiroki Ueda added a goal on a corner kick. Jon Cowie made six saves on nine shots.

Vermont 3, Maine 2

At Burlington, Vt., Saturday, Tyler Hasman netted the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Vermont past Maine.

Jordan Crasilneck and Connor Tobin each added a goal. Roger Scully and Tom Critz combined to make three saves on nine shots for 8-5-3 Vermont.

Dimitri Anastasion and Cooper Friend each tallied a goal for Maine. Ben Piotrowski made six saves on 26 shots for the 0-15 Black Bears.

Unity 2, SMCC 1

At South Portland Saturday, Ben Gillis and John Korkos each scored a goal to lead Unity College by Southern Maine Community College.

With the win, Unity locks up the first place spot for the Yankee Small College Conference playoffs. Tyler Ferguson made five saves on seven shots for the Rams.

Tristin Klein scored the lone goal for SMCC. Jake Hall made six saves on 11 shots for the Seawolves.

Elms 1, UM-Farmington 0

At Farmington, Sean Moylan scored an unassisted goal at the 31:55 mark to lead Elms College by University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday.

Brian Lemont stopped three of seven shots for the 5-7-3 Beavers.

Phil Joyce made seven saves on 11 shots for 6-6-1 Elms.

St. Joseph’s 3, Green Mountain 2

At Poultney, Vt., Kevin Melega scored two goals, including the game-winning goal six minutes into overtime, to lift Saint Joseph’s College past Green Mountain.

The tying-goal was an own goal by Green Mountain in the second half. Cory Smith made seven saves on 14 shots for the 5-7 Monks.

Garrick Johnson scored both goals for 4-11 Green Mountain. Mike Weinberg made six saves on 14 shots.

Paul Smith’s 4, UM-Machias 2

At Paul Smith, NY, Kanaruzman Mohammed scored two goals to lead Paul Smith’s College past the University of Maine-Machias on Saturday.

David Wilkens had a goal and an assist for Paul Smith’s and Kyle Flagg added a goal. Dustin Johnson made eight saves on 15 shots.

Brett Howarth and Andrew Hayes scored for UM-Machias. Danny Perez had an assist as Kellen Shaver turned away 12 of 23 shots.

Col. St. Joseph 2, UM-Machias 1

At Rutland, Vt., Troy Lagmay scored both goals including the winner with about 15 minutes left in regulation for College of Saint Joseph on Sunday.

Jay Stone stopped five of 12 shots for College of Saint Joseph.

Christian Villatoro scored in the first half off of a Danny Perez assist for the University of Maine at Machias. Kellen Shaver made eight saves on 19 shots.

USM 4, UMass Dartmouth 3

At Gorham Saturday, Sinisa Bajic scored all four goals including the winner at 57:06 in the second half off of a Greg Cox assist to lead the University of Southern Maine past the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday.

Adam Bial and Eddie Weddington added assists for the 7-8 Huskies. Chris Willard blocked three of 17 shots.

Byron Andrade, Sebastian Cordoba, and Matthew Correia scored the 5-6-1 UMass Dartmouth. Adam Rolfe made two saves on eight shots.

Elms 2, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Sean Moylan scored two unassisted goal in the first half to lift Elms College over Thomas College on Saturday.

Phil Joyce made five saves on nine shots for Elms.

Russell Beckwith blocked five of 19 shots for Thomas.

UM-Fort Kent sweeps

At Rutland, Vt. and Paul Smith, N.Y., Arnold Lewis scored a goal and assisted another to help lead the University of Maine at Fort Kent past Paul Smith College 6-1 on Sunday. The Bengals also beat College of Saint Joseph on Saturday 8-2.

On Saturday, Noe Aparacio had two goals and two assists for UM-Fort Kent. Andy Martin scored twice. Arnold Lewis and Justin Dunlea each had a goal and an assist as Miguel Gomez and Dwayne Smith added goals. Derrick Plourde stopped seven of nine shots.

Jay Stone blocked 15 of 30 shots for College of Saint Joseph.

On Sunday, Emlyn Jacoby, Dunlea, Smith, Martin, Lewis, and Gomez scored for UM-Fort Kent. Aparacio provided three assists as Plourde made seven saves on nine shots.

Alex Carr scored an unassisted goal for Paul Smith’s. Dylan McKeenan blocked 10 of 16 shots.

Women’s hockey

Maine drops to UNH, BC

At Orono, Meghan Fardelmann and Kelli Stack both had a goal and an assist to lift tenth-ranked Boston College over the University of Maine 5-3 on Sunday. Second-ranked University of New Hampshire shut out Maine 4-0 on Saturday.

On Saturday, Nicole Hekle scored a goal and assisted another for 5-0-0 New Hampshire. Micaela Long, Sam Faber, and Martine Garland added goals. Sadie Wright-Ward provided two assists. Melissa Bourdon stopped all 12 shots.

Geneviece Turgeon made 32 saves on 36 shots for the Black Bears.

On Sunday, Anna McDonald, Becky Zavisza, and Allie Thunstrom scored for 3-0-0 Boston College. Molly Schaus turned away 14 of 17 shots.

Sonia Corriveau scored twice for the 1-5-0 Black Bears. Jenna Cowan added a goal as Amy Stach and Elyce Thomas provided assists. Rachel Gettings made 27 saves on 32 shots.

Women’s soccer

Binghamton 1, Maine 0

At Vestal, N.Y., Sunday, Kerry O’Shaughnessy notched the game-winning goal at the 62:07 mark to lead Binghamton past Maine.

Kristie Bowers made four saves on eight shots for the 7-7-2 Bearcats.

Jasmine Phillips made two saves on five shots for the 11-3-1 Black Bears.

Husson takes two

At Bangor, Danielle Billings scored two goals to lift Husson College over Bay Path College 6-1 Sunday and Shelby Morissette scored twice to get Husson past Wheelock College 5-0 Saturday.

On Sunday, Shelby Pickering of Lee scored a goal and had two assists for 12-3-1 Husson. Katie Nickerson, Samantha Homer, and Elisse Gordon added goals. Leah Drew turned away two of three shots.

Meaghan Smith scored on an Amanda Janik assist in the second half for 8-4-1 Bay Path. Samantha Duffy stopped nine of 15 shots.

On Saturday, Laurie Melen scored a goal and assisted another for the 11-3-1 Eagles. Nickerson and Kelly Morgan added goals. Gordon and Kaylin Caron both had two assists. Drew blocked the only shot.

Kristen Brock stopped 10 of 15 shots for 4-8 Wheelock.

MMA sweeps pair

At Castine, goalie Hillary Arris stopped seven of 11 shots and notched two shutouts to lead the Maine Maritime Academy women to a 3-0 soccer win over Wheelock College Saturday and a 3-0 win over Bay Path College Sunday.

On Sunday, Jessie Taylor scored a goal and assisted on another to lift MMA to the win.

Amy Preble and Kelsi Eiane added goals for the 8-3-2 Lady Mariners. Kristen Gaylord and Diana Manatt-Rogers both had an assist. Arris made three saves on five shots.

Melinda Ortega blocked three of eight shots for 4-9 Wheelock.

On Saturday, Taylor scored a goal and assisted two others to lead the Mariners.

Manatt-Rogers and Gaylord scored for the 7-3-2 Mariners and Morgan Pratley had an assist. Arris stopped four of six shots.

Samantha Duffy blocked seven of 17 shots for 8-3-1 Bay Path.

Paul Smith 2, UM-Machias 0

At Paul Smith, N.Y., Jenny Folte and Amanda Souther scored goals to lead Paul Smith’s College past the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday.

Hannah Hauser and Patricia Donald provided assists for Paul Smith’s. Karlie Zurmuhler stopped three of four shots.

Alicia Schmidt made one save on five shots for UM-Machias.

UM-Machias 3, Col. St. Joseph 2

At Rutland, Vt., Christy Moon scored all three goals including the game-winner on a Emily Dano assist 15 seconds into overtime to give the University of Maine-Machias the win over host College of Saint Joseph.

Abby Land and Alicia Schmidt provided assists for UM-Machias. Schmidt made four saves on nine shots.

Julia Kyenhe and Leah Harshton scored for College of Saint Joseph. Katie Chase blocked seven of 12 shots.

Amherst 1, Colby 0

At Amherst, Mass., Meg Murphy scored on a Katie Coffey assist six minutes into the first half to lift Amherst College over Colby College on Saturday.

Piper Crowell made five saves for 8-1-1 Amherst.

Liza Benson turned away 10 shots for the 6-2-3 Mules.

Elms 3, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Jen LeDoux scored twice to lead Elms College to victory on Saturday.

Jamie Walsh scored in the second half for Elms and Sarah Casagrande had an assist. Shannon Donnelly blocked one of five shots.

Lindsay Thorton had three saves on nine shots for Thomas College.

USM 2, UMass Dartmouth 0

At Gorham, Julia Cyr and Caitlin Brown scored to give the University of Southern Maine the win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday.

Jenna Wasylak provided both assists for the 5-8-0 Huskies. Meghan Ibar blocked five of 11 shots.

Shawna Howell and Elisabeth Stapleton combined to made five saves on 11 shots for UMass Dartmouth.

Thomas 0, Becker 0

At Waterville, Thomas and Becker College battled to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes on Sunday.

Lindsay Thornton made seven saves on 10 shots for the Terriers.

Julie Arroyo made three saves on four shots for Becker.
