Big School (Classes A-B)

SAM SHEEHAN

Sheehan, a senior on the Caribou High School cross country team, celebrated his 17th birthday by winning the boys division of the Penobscot Valley Conference championship meet. He covered the 3-mile course at Saxl Park in Bangor in a time of 16 minutes, 4.6 seconds.

Small School (Classes C-D)

PORTER GERVAIS

Gervais, a sophomore on the Houlton golf team, shot a 4-over-par 76 to earn medalist honors at the Class C team championships held at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. Gervais also led the Shiretowners to their third state title overall, first in Class C.

BAILLIE BOGGS

Boggs, a Rockland soccer sophomore wing, scored the only goal of a 1-0 win as the No. 9 Tigers defeated No. 8 Camden Hills 1-0 in an Eastern Maine Class B preliminary game. It was Boggs’ sixth goal against the Windjammers this year and gave Rockland its first-ever postseason win.

Small School (Classes C-D)

HEATHER WOODBREY

A senior on the Orono girls soccer team, Woodbrey scored two goals, including the game-winner three minutes into overtime, to help the No. 9 Red Riots defeat No. 8 Houlton 2-1 in an Eastern Maine Class C preliminary game and earn a berth in the quarterfinals.
