Bangor man charged with OUI after pickup truck hits stop sign

A Bangor man was charged on Tuesday with drunken driving after the pickup truck he was operating knocked over a stop sign in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Dan Herrick was called shortly after 9 p.m. to the corner of Fourth and Cedar streets where a witness reported seeing a red pickup truck strike the stop sign and keep going.

The officer found the rearview mirror of the truck on the scene. He located the truck, which was parked in front of a residence on Fourth Street. The right rearview mirror was missing and the right side door had been damaged. The front right tire was flat.

Upon entering the residence, the officer noted that Michael Warman, 23, of Bangor, appeared to be intoxicated.

Warman was brought to the Bangor police station, where he was summoned for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants. He was then returned to his residence.

Bangor police went to a Broadway home on Tuesday looking to charge an individual and ended up arresting another resident instead.

Arriving at the home to summon a man for an incident earlier in the summer, Sgt. Thomas Reagan found the man wasn’t there, but Lynn Cook, 41, was. And she was out on bail and required to allow police to search her and her residence.

Police searched the residence and Reagan saw signs of drug use there, as well as 10 Diazepam pills in a container attached to a key chain Cook had.

Cook was arrested and charged with possession of scheduled drugs and violation of conditions of release.
