CARIBOU – Sen. Susan Collins, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, recently administered the oath of office to William Wark, a native of Caribou, who is the newest member of the federal Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board.

Wark is a graduate of the University of Maine at Fort Kent and received a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. A Navy veteran of counter-intelligence duty in Vietnam, he is also a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.

FORT KENT – Martin Bernstein, CEO of Northern Maine Medical Center, has announced that child and adolescent psychiatrist Manisha Punwani, M.D., has received notification that she has met the requirements for certification in psychiatry as prescribed by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Punwani has been a member of NMMC’s medical staff since July 2005. Before moving to the St. John Valley, she completed a residency in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she served as chief resident during her last year.

Her office is located in the Station Hill Medical Office Building.

FORT KENT – Martin Bernstein, CEO of Northern Maine Medical Center, has announced that Matt Wilson, PMHNP, has joined the child and adolescent psychiatric unit. He will see patients at the outpatient facility in Fort Kent.

A Maine native, Wilson is a 2006 graduate of the University of Southern Maine, where he received a master’s degree in nursing with a concentration in psychiatry. He recently passed the licensure exam, which enables him to become a family psychiatric nurse practitioner.
