Thomaston set to fill vacant selectman seat

THOMASTON – A special election has been called for Jan. 9 to fill a vacant selectman’s seat due to the recent resignation of Marquita Chambers.

Chambers was in the final year of a three-year term when she resigned last month because she has moved to Friendship.

Selectmen have opted to fill the seat via a special town meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at Watts Hall.

Nomination papers are available at the town office and must be returned by Monday, Nov. 27. The seat will expire June 2007.
