HAMPDEN – An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Matthew William Roope of Hampden on Aug. 13 at Reeds Brook School in Hampden. Family, friends and Scouts from Troop 41 attended the ceremony.

Roope’s Eagle Scout project was replacing a door, building steps and doing landscaping at the Hampden Kiwanis Club.

Roope is the son of William and Deborah Roope of Hampden, and the grandson of William and Brenda Roope of Winterport and Skip and Carol Lyon of Bridgewater.

Roope is a firefighter for the Hermon Fire Department and is enrolled at Eastern Maine Community College, studying business administration and fire science. He is a graduate of Hampden Academy.
