David Wilson’s op-ed, “Stop blaming ourselves for 9-11” (BDN, Oct. 10), claims that Democrats obtain their negative opinion of George Bush from celebrities and fellow Democrats. I think Wilson is listening to too much Rush Limbaugh. Disapproving of Bush is not just for Democrats anymore, and Wilson is a minority of people who do approve – 33 percent.

Anyone who describes a prison camp (Guantanamo Bay) as a healthy environment, may not recognize that the Republican leadership has killed itself. Anytime one party controls the show it is not good for the country.

Not everyone is a conservative Republican or a liberal Democrat. There are many of us in the middle, and everyone wanted representation. Republicans are no better with absolute power than Democrats are. It’s so much easier to blame the other side, without looking in the mirror and seeing what you are complaining about staring you in the face.

And one more thing, can we please stop trying to link 9-11 with the invasion of Iraq? The responsible party for that day is still on the loose, and it is dishonest to use that terrible day to justify the killing that has been going on ever since.
