A Chicago woman who was healed of more than a dozen diseases including an inoperable brain tumor upon receiving the Eucharist at Medjugorge will share her testimony next week at two Catholic churches in Maine. Colleen Willard, 55, will speak after the celebration Mass at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent and at the same time on Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Willard will speak at 7 p.m. following the services. Willard was healed in 2003 when she received communion while on a pilgrimage to Medjugorge, Herzegovina – formerly a part of Yugoslavia. Her family priest in Illinois urged her to make the trip after he received a message from God that she should go, Willard said Friday in a phone interview. “The most important thing I do is just wake up every morning and be with my family,” she said. “When God presents me with an opportunity to share my experience, I do.” Willard was invited to speak in Maine by the Rev. Paul LaBree, parochial vicar at the Fort Kent parish. She met the priest, who is a native of Old Town, earlier this year on a return trip to the shrine in Medjugorge. “When I became ill,” she said, “I didn’t know how to carry the cross of suffering. Through prayer and grace, even though my body was deteriorating, my soul was expanding. There can be joy even in suffering.” For information, call St. Louis Catholic Church at 834-5656 or St. John’s Catholic Church at 942-6941.
