Women’s organizations in two midcoast United Methodist churches along with members of the local Retired Senior Volunteer Program recently donated a dozen baby quilts to the Teen and Young Parent Program, based in Rockland. The mission committees of People’s UMC and St. John Street UMC held a quilting bee earlier this year when the quilts were started. Throughout the summer, volunteers worked on the quilts, and they recently were given to the young mothers and their babies. The goals of the Teen and Parent Program include supporting young parents and their children through the involvement of trained volunteer mentors and parenting educators.
