DYER BROOK – Kristen Goupille scored on a scramble in front of the goal with 27:55 left in the second half as the No. 5 Washburn girls soccer team knocked off No. 4 Southern Aroostook 2-1 Friday in an Eastern Maine Class D quarterfinal.

Kelsee McLaughlin assisted on Goupille’s winner. Morgan Berube also scored for the 12-4 Beavers and Rachel Palmer made 16 saves on 22 shots.

Kaylea Collier provided a goal for the 13-3 Warriors off an assist from Rochelle Meadow. Erin Caswell stopped 11 of 14 shots.

Van Buren 5, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, the No. 1 Crusaders got three goals from Lindsay Lajoie and two more from sister Megan Lajoie en route to the quarterfinal victory over the No. 9 Hornets.

Megan Lajoie assisted on one of her sister’s goals. Trisha Gagnon, Erica Ouellette, Kelly Vaillancourt and Kyla Ayotte each chipped in with an assist for 13-2 Van Buren. Gagnon and Jennifer Ouellette, Erica’s sister, combined for three saves on three shots.

Taylor Baker stopped eight of 13 shots for 6-8-2 Ashland.

Class C

Fort Kent 4, Orono 0

At Fort Kent, Marissa Albert provided three goals and Kelsie Bouchard stopped 10 of 13 shots for a shutout as the No. 1 Warriors rolled over the No. 9 Red Riots.

Nicole Chasse chipped in with a goal and an assist for 11-3-1 Fort Kent.

Brittney Pinkham made six saves on 17 shots for 9-5-2 Orono.
