FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Senior quarterback Brandon Hamilton rushed 22 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns as the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners ran past the Framingham State Rams in a New England Football Conference contest 40-24 Saturday.

Hamilton notched scoring runs of 51 and 18 yards and also threw a 67-yard TD pass to Alex Coulombe on the first play of the game. Jim Bower netted 97 yards on 14 carries, including scoring runs of 1, 11 and 11 yards for 5-2 MMA, which remains in contention for the Bogan Division title at 4-1.

MMA piled up 320 yards on the ground, while Framingham State passed for 272 yards and two scores behind QB Bryce Guilbeault (25-for-46) and receiver Bill Meuse (17 receptions, 194 yards).

Aaron Allaire paced the MMA defense with six tackles, including four for negative yardage, and Cody Andrews also made six stops.

At Winkin Complex in Bangor, the Saxons used their run-pass balance to beat the Eagles.

Paul Keeley completed 13 of 26 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, including throws of 5 and 9 yards to Jared Manzer, to lead 6-1 Alfred. Morgan O’Brien provide the run punch, netting 118 yards on 31 carries.

Husson (4-4) was limited to 117 total yards. Quarterback David Chase completed 12 of 21 passes for 106 yards, with Jeremy Shorey catching five passes for 38 yards.

The Eagles committed four turnovers.

Husson got on the scoreboard with 7:23 left in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 14-7 on Ramael Barton’s 45-yard interception return.

However, Keeley’s 47-yard TD toss to Saucobie Riley early in the fourth quarter pushed the Saxons’ lead back to 14.

Ross Salovitch made 71/2 tackles and Barton had six for the Eagles.

Hamilton 6, Colby 0

At Waterville, a touchdown pass by quarterback Ben Saccomano gave Hamilton a win over Colby in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

With its second straight shutout, Hamilton improved to 2-3 overall, while Colby fell to 1-4.

Hamilton put the only points of the day on the board in the second quarter after Matt Pitarresi intercepted a Colby pass at the Continentals’ 23-yard line and raced 52 yards to the Colby 25. On the next play, Saccomano hit Ben Tomaszewski on a 25-yard passing score.

Colby blocked the extra point attempt.

Saccomano completed nine passes for 108 yards, and Tomaszewski had five catches for 75 yards.

Chris Bashaw ran for 35 yards and caught five passes for 53 yards for Colby. The Mules’ Brennan Moore also had five catches for 40 yards.

At Brunswick, Eric McGrath threw three touchdown passes as Trinity blanked winless Bowdoin.

Led by McGrath’s 262 yards passing, Trinity gained 520 yards in total offense while improving its record to 4-1. It was the third consecutive shutout for Trinity.

Bowdoin fell to 0-5.

Gennaro Leo had 120 rushing yards for Trinity.

Bowdoin’s Dave Donahue had 13 solo tackles.

At Middlebury, Vt., Tiger Lyon completed 15 of 27 passes for 218 yards and three touchdowns as the Panthers improved to 4-1.

Middlebury held Bates (0-5) to 196 total yards. The Bobcats’ only score was a 1-yard run by Jamie Walker (22 carries, 71 yards) that tied the game 7-7 in the second quarter.

Steve Hauschka’s 41-yard field goal later in the half put the hosts in front for good.

At Orono, the Maine football club scored all 13 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Central Massachusetts Fury Saturday night.

With the win, Maine clinches the division title and will host the Central Maine Warriors of Winthrop on Nov. 11.

Kevin Williams had a 66-yard fumble return and Bret Davidson rushed for a 1-yard touchdown for the winners.
