BANGOR – The city’s government operations committee on Tuesday heard a proposal from Bangor Municipal Golf Course management to raise membership rates and weekday greens fees for the 2007 season.
“It has been two years since we’ve changed our rates,” Frank Comeau, Bangor’s director of parks and recreation, said.
The proposal includes increasing the price of a single membership from $575 to $600 for Bangor residents and upping the greens fee for 18 holes on a weekday for a resident from $22 to $25. A non-resident single membership would increase from $815 to $850, and non-resident weekday greens fee from $25 to $28. A new weekday 27-hole greens fee of $34 for a resident and $37 for a non-resident was also proposed. Comeau also said that they are proposing a new senior greens fee of $17 before noon on weekdays.
All current weekend rates would remain the same.
All other membership rates would increase 4 to 5 percent under the proposal.
The proposal also includes adding a corporate membership, allowing a business to purchase a minimum of five memberships for $3,000, with each additional membership costing $550. To be eligible the corporation must pay Bangor real estate taxes.
The proposal will be recommended to the full city council.
