GREENVILLE – Hannah Breton scored two unassisted first-half goals to propel the No. 2 Greenville Lakers by the No. 3 Buckfield Bucks 3-1 in a Western Maine Class D girls soccer semifinal Tuesday.
Greenville advanced to Friday’s regional championship at No. 1 Richmond, which defeated No. 4 Rangeley 5-0 on Tuesday. In their two meetings this season, Richmond defeated Greenville 6-1 in Richmond and 3-0 at Greenville.
In Tuesday’s game, Brittany Boucher added a second-half goal off a direct kick for 12-2 Greenville and Lauren Fling made nine saves on 12 shots.
Lindsay Henderson scored unassisted for 9-5-1 Buckfield in the second half and Alyssa Henderson made 22 saves on 35 shots.
Class C
Washington Acad. 4, Fort Kent 3
At Fort Kent, Bre Nicely’s goal with four minutes left in the game helped No. 4 Washington Academy upset No. 1 Fort Kent.
The Raiders advance to Friday’s regional championship against the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal of No. 3 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill at No. 2 Madawaska.
Fort Kent outshot the Raiders 27-9.
The goal capped a three-goal scoring flourish by both teams in the last 8:29.
WA’s Lauren Finn scored off a Kayla Wood assist at the 8:29 mark to tie the game at 2-2. Marissa Albert responded 90 seconds later for Fort Kent when she scored off a Nicole Chasse pass. Nicely then answered three minutes later with the winning goal.
Wood added an unassisted first-half goal for the 12-2 winners and Andi Flannery also scored unassisted with 39 minutes left in the game. Irene Lewey made 15 saves.
Casey Pelletier scored with 25 minutes left in the game off a Chasse assist for 11-4-1 Fort Kent and Chasse set up Albert’s first goal four minutes later. Kelsie Bouchard made three saves.
Class D
Van Buren 2, Washburn 1
At Van Buren, Megan Lajoie, Mindy Lapointe, Taylor Parent and Kristen Vailancourt each converted their penalty kicks as No. 1 Van Buren edged No. 5 Washburn after two overtime periods failed to produce a winner.
Van Buren will host the regional final Friday against the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between No. 3 Lee Academy and No. 2 Bangor Christian.
Lajoie scored unassisted in the first half to give the 14-2 Crusaders an early lead. Erica McDougal answered in the second half on a corner kick from Amy Reed for the 13-4 Beavers.
Trisha Gagnon and Jennifer Ouellette combined to make 14 saves on 15 shots for Van Buren.
Rachel Palmer finished with 13 saves on 14 shots for the Beavers.
