Philip E. Harriman of Falmouth has been named the 2006-2007 president of the Million Dollar Round Table, an international association of insurance and investment financial services professionals with more than 35,000 members from 80 countries.

Harriman’s position became effective Sept. 1 and marks the culmination of his tenure on the round table’s executive committee.

As president, Harriman will spend the next 12 months traveling around the globe communicating the Million Dollar Round Table message and mobilizing the financial services industry to help baby boomers better prepare for retirement.

Harriman, 51, was a state senator from 1992 to 2000 and serves as a board member for Mid-Coast Hospital in Brunswick; the United Way Foundation, Husson College, Bangor; and as co-chair of the Yarmouth Clam Festival, the proceeds of which benefit 28 local charities.
