The city was recognized this week for “loyalty and patriotism by proudly displaying the United States flag.” Mark Lovell of the Greater Bangor area detachment of the Marine Corps League presented the city with a citation to that end on Monday night during a City Council meeting. The presentation followed the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, which is done at the start of every regular council meeting. Councilor Frank Farrington, who served with the 4th Marine Regiment in Japan in the mid-1950s, accepted it on behalf of the city.
