Hartwick College cross country coach and Milford native Dereck Treadwell will be competing in the World Triathlon Championships in Maui, Hawaii, this weekend.

Treadwell qualified for the event based on his performance at the U.S. Championships in Lake Tahoe earlier this month. He finished second in his age group and 34th overall in a field of 400.

The course included a 1,500-meter swim, 32-kilometer bike ride and 11K run. He finished in 3 hours, 0 minutes, 55 seconds.
