FORT KENT – The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights in Washington has announced the appointment of Edeltraut Thiele to the Maine Advisory Committee.

Thiele is the executive director of the Northern Aroostook Association for People with Special Needs of Fort Kent and a dedimus justice for the state of Maine. As a member of the Maine Advisory Committee for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Thiele will advise the commission of civil rights issues in Maine that are within the commission’s jurisdiction. She has been authorized to receive reports, suggestions and recommendations from individuals, public officials and representatives of both public and private organizations to committee inquiries and can forward advice and recommendations to the committee as requested.
