Milford native Dereck Treadwell, who coaches cross country at Hartwick (N.Y.) College, placed 49th at the World Triathlon Championships Sunday in Makena, Hawaii.

Treadwell covered the course in 3 hours, 15 minutes, 4 seconds, placing him sixth in his age group (30-34). The race consisted of a 1,500-meter swim, 32-kilometer off-road bike and 11K run.
