BANGOR – Merrill Bank will sponsor free on-site document shredding at a “Fall Shred Fest” to be held at Crossroads Plaza, 920 Stillwater Ave., Bangor, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4.

According to Edwin N. Clift, chairman and chief executive officer, Merrill decided to offer the on-site shredding service as a means of educating consumers about the risk of identity theft associated with improper disposal of confidential documents.

“The bank’s shredding service will be on-site for four hours along with a team of Merrill employees who will assist consumers with the shredding process, including providing them with educational materials about fraud prevention and identity theft,” Clift said.
