BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

TOM CREWS

A senior wide receiver and defensive back for the Bangor football team, Crews returned two interceptions for touchdowns and caught a TD pass as the Rams defeated Oxford Hills of South Paris 45-21. Crews returned interceptions 79 and 65 yards for scores, and also caught a 13-yard TD pass to help Bangor end its regular season with a 7-1 record.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MIKE WHARFF

A senior striker for the Piscataquis of Guilford boys soccer team, Wharff scored two goals and had two assists as the fifth-seeded Pirates outlasted No. 2 Dexter 4-3 in the Eastern Maine Class C -championship game. The win gave PCHS its first regional title since 2001.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CASEY WYMAN

Wyman, a sophomore forward for the Ellsworth soccer team, scored the game-winning goal in the Eagles’ 1-0 Eastern Maine Class B semifinal victory over Presque Isle. She also recorded Ellsworth’s goal in a 2-1 loss to Winslow in the regional final.

Small School (Classes C-D)

AMANDA GIFFORD

A junior midfielder for the Lee Academy soccer team, Gifford recorded three goals and an assist in the Pandas’ Eastern Maine Class D semifinal and final wins over Bangor Christian and Van Buren, respectively. Lee won both games 4-0.
