The story (BDN, Oct. 30) about the confiscation of the framed sea gull from Cappy’s Chowder House in Camden evoked feelings of sadness and anger similar to those which the owner must have felt when she was set upon by the federal agents.
By their actions the agents have succeeded in diminishing the richness of our environment – removing a wonderful object of art and history from a well-known and much-frequented tavern – while accomplishing nothing meaningful in the name of wildlife protection.
The actions described in the article, including those of the customer who evidently reported the tavern owner, reflect a regrettably mean-spirited and trivial attitude which deserves the exposure it received in your article and the condemnation of your readership.
