Bangor police received reports of eight burglaries to motor vehicles that happened overnight from Nov. 1 to Nov. 2. Most took place in the Fourth Street area between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday. All were reported Thursday morning.

All of the vehicles that were entered were unlocked and parked either in the owner’s driveway or in an apartment complex parking lot or driveway.

According to police reports, expensive items were stolen from inside several vehicles, including a video iPod with an estimated value of $300. Other people had only handfuls of change stolen from their vehicles.

Police have no suspects for the burglaries at this time.

Two Alton women were summoned for theft Wednesday after they reportedly were found stealing from the loading dock of The Salvation Army in Bangor.

Officer Jason McAmbley had responded to a call about the two women around 8 p.m. and was talking to the complainant when Cristol Wickett, 49, and Nancy Bartlett, 34, walked over to where he was standing and began talking to him.

Police reports state they showed him their identifications and told him they had been dropping off a donation and had decided to look in the trash bin for things to take.

According to police reports, when McAmbley looked in the women’s car he saw several closed bags full of clothing, as well as a full laundry basket.

McAmbley determined that the clothing had been taken off the loading dock and summoned both women for theft. He also issued both of them a written warning for criminal trespass on Salvation Army property.
