Two wildlife grant programs are accepting proposals from Indian tribes through the end of January.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service annually awards funds from tribal wildlife grants and tribal landowner incentive programs to federally recognized tribes. The money is used to conserve and recover endangered, threatened and at-risk species on tribal lands.

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Northeast Region, nearly $2.5 million in grants has been awarded to tribes in Maine, Massachusetts and New York.
