BANGOR – Tatyanna Wolterbeek’s goal with 2:57 left in the game lifted the Husson College women’s soccer team by UMaine-Farmington 1-0 for the North Atlantic Conference championship Saturday.

Wolterbeek’s shot was a rebound after a Samantha Homer shot that came off a corner kick by Danielle Billings. UMF goalie Alix Raymond (four saves on nine shots) made an initial save by Wolterbeek put the rebound into the lower left corner of the net.

Leah Drew made four saves on seven shots. Wolterbeek was starting in place of NAC Player of the Year Shelby Pickering, who was out due to a concussion suffered in the semifinals.

Hartford 1, Maine 0

At West Hartford, Conn., Saturday, Meagan Reimer scored in the 76th minute to lift the Hawks past the Black Bears in the America East Conference championship game.

Reimer volleyed the ball out of midair and into the top right corner of the net, beating Maine goalie Jasmine Phillips for her eighth goal of the season.

Hartford edged Maine 9-8 in shots. Phillips made four saves and Hartford’s Liz Cook had one. The Hawks improve to 10-8-2 while Maine finishes at 14-4-2.

Maine players Phillips, Marie-Andree Canuel and Laura Harper were named to the all-championship team.

Middlebury 2, Colby 0

At Amherst, Mass., Saturday, Margaret Owen and Kim Walker each netted a goal as Middlebury knocked out Colby in a NESCAC semifinal.

Adele Plunkett earned the shutout for 12-2-1 Middlebury while Liza Benson made six saves for 9-3-3 Colby of Waterville.

Saint Joseph’s 8, Mitchell 0

At Poultney, Vt., Katie Jordan and Michelle Crisp each netted a pair of goals as Saint Joseph’s College cruised by Mitchell College on Sunday.

Meagan Willette, Karia Emerson, Allison Walton and Kelsey Stewart each added a goal. Shannon Northrop and Lindsay King did not face any shots for the 11-8 Monks.

Molly Gill made 10 saves on 24 shots for 6-13 Mitchell.

Field hockey

Boston U. 4, Maine 1

At Cambridge, Mass., Sarah Shute broke a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal 16:43 into the second half Sunday as the top-seeded Terriers beat the No. 3 Black Bears 4-1 for the America East field hockey championship at Jack Barry Field.

Hadley Adams scored off a Holly Wiles assist three minutes later and Amy Seaman added an insurance goal for 14-6 Boston University. Hayley Hamada scored a first-half goal for the Terriers. Erin Prediger made one save.

Joanna Ferandes had tied the game 1-1 on a goal off a penalty corner, with Katie Flaherty and Amy Zdrojesky posting assists. Rebecca Giroux made four saves for UMaine, which wound up 8-11.

Flaherty, Giroux and Zdrojesky were UMaine’s representatives on the all-tournament team, which also included Most Outstanding Player Pam Spuehler of BU.

UM-Farmington 2, WNEC 1

At Farmington Saturday, Elyse Cole scored twice off assists from Andrea Tyler as the Beavers claimed the North Atlantic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Cole scored the winner 25 minutes into the second half. Western New England’s Cori Eggert had tied the game 15 minutes earlier.

UMF had a 10-5 advantage in shots. Kaeleigh Barker made one save for the 15-2 Beavers. Emilie Donka stopped five shots for 14-8 WNEC.

UMF’s Amanda Pullen was named the tournament MVP. UMF players Cole, Tyler, Katie Gorham and Nicole Lyons were named to the all-tournament team, as was former Orono High standout Emily Sypher of Simmons College.

Women’s hockey

Maine 5, North Dakota 4 (OT)

At Orono Saturday, Kim Meagher notched a power-play goal with 1:37 remaining in overtime to lift the Black Bears past the Sioux.

Brigitte LaFlamme, Kelly Law, Jenna Ouellette and Robyn Law each added a goal. Genevieve Turgeon made 28 saves for the 3-7 Black Bears.

Melissa Jaques and Alexia Gagnon Laplante each scored for 2-8 North Dakota. Jody Karnik made 22 saves.

Volleyball

New Hampshire edges UMaine

At Durham, N.H., on Sunday, the Wildcats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat the Black Bears 3-2.

Sarah Rehn and Emmy Blouin paced New Hampshire (10-15, 5-5 America East) with 31 and 29 kills, respectively, while Kate Uitti piled up 61 assists and had 17 digs.

Lindsay Allman led UMaine (6-18, 4-6 AE) with 16 kills and 18 digs. Amy Lawson posted 15 kills, Laura Goettsch made 13 kills, Shelly Seipp registered 58 assists and Jody Connacher contributed 30 digs.

Men’s basketball

Vermont Tech. 82, NMCC 58

At Unity Saturday, Jacob Clough scored a game-high 20 points to lead Vermont Technical College by Northern Maine Community College of Presque Isle.

Jon Michael Sgants tossed in 15 points while Jordan White and Clark Agnew each added 12 for Vermont Technical.

Shawn Lay led NMCC of Presque Isle with 16 points. Jason Woodward added 14.
