PORTLAND – Boston Red Sox executive vice president and general manager Theo Epstein announced the promotion of Sea Dogs manager Todd Claus to major league advance scout Tuesday.

Claus, named Baseball America’s 2006 Double-A Manager of the Year after guiding Portland to the Eastern League Championship, joins Dana Levangie and will split time handling the advance scouting duties and serving as coaching assistant to Terry Francona and the major league staff.

No replacement has been announced for Claus.
