BREWER – New England District of Kiwanis Lt. Gov. Division 3 Bud Bruns recently installed the new Brewer Kiwanis Officers for the 2006-2007 year: Kathleen Harding-Heber, president; Jessica Tilton, vice president; Herb Hopkins, secretary; Trish Largay, treasurer; and Carlton King, past president. Elected to the board of directors were Bob Dion, Art Monk, Jim Pooler, Kim Long and Jane Newberry.

Interclub meetings and guests were Bangor-Breakfast Kiwanis – George Dandaneau, Larry Smith, Carissa Marsh and Bruce Fowle; Hampden Kiwanis – Lt. Gov. Bud Bruns, Frank Jewell, John Torrance III, President Sonya Leighton and Stan Smith; Orono-Old Town Kiwanis – Deanna Wade, Deanne Ruston, Carl Gridley, Mike Pullen and Clair Wood; Brewer Key Club – President Jackie Files, Alli Ladjimi and Danielle Nason.

Other guests were Helen Harding, Ruth-Mary Pooler, Joe Roy and Debra Henderlong.

Awards given:

. President of the Month Awards went to Debbie Roy, Bob Dion, Kathleen Harding-Heber, Art Monk, Trish Largay, Carlton King, Herb Hopkins, Jane Newberry and Bill Newberry.

. Legion of Merit Awards were earned by Manley DeBeck, Debbie Roy and Bill Newberry, five years; Dr. Zev Myerowitz, Charles “Dusty” Fisher, Dan O’Connell, Joe Kiley and Paul Cook, 10 years; Jim Pooler and Glendon Rand, 15 years; and Jane Newberry, 20 years.

Perfect Attendance tabs were given to Tricia Largay, Jessica Tilton and Debbie Roy, one year; Art Monk, three years; Bill Newberry six years; Jane Newberry, 15 years; Kempton Humphrey, 17 years; Herb Hopkins, 28 years, Carlton King, 33 years and Wesley Archer, 55 years.

Co-Kiwanians of the Year tabs were presented to Jane and Bill Newberry.

A food drive project was announced and each member was asked to bring to each meeting a nonperishable item for the food cupboard.

The Brewer Kiwanis is making plans for the annual children’s Christmas party, Salvation Army bell ringing, and a talent show.

Because of the holidays, Brewer Kiwanis will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 15, Dec. 6 and 13. The club usually meets 6-7 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at the Muddy Rudder Restaurant in Brewer.
