RIPLEY – An argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend escalated Tuesday night, resulting in the man’s arrest on weapons charges and for assault.

Keith Thompson, 21, left his Seavey Road home on foot about 11 p.m. after a fight with his girlfriend, according to Sgt. Roderick Charette of the Maine State Police.

He allegedly took a .30-.30 lever action rifle with him. In the driveway of the home, Thompson allegedly began firing into the side of the woman’s car. He then left the home and began walking down the roadway, still with the loaded gun.

Police received several complaints about the shooting.

Maine State Trooper Derek Record confronted Thompson about a half-mile from the home on Seavey Road, and Thompson did not resist.

Charette said Thompson was charged with criminal threatening, domestic assault, criminal mischief and reckless conduct. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan. Charette said the incident remains under investigation.
