WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Meighan McGowan scored the eventual game-winning goal as Williams downed the University of Maine-Farmington 4-1 Wednesday to knock the Beavers out in the first round of the NCAA Division III field hockey tournament.
Williams outshot UM-Farmington 35-4 and had 27 penalty corners to three for the Beavers. Ephs starting goalie Emily Wasserman recorded one save and Ali Raizin closed out the game.
Katie Gorham recorded a first-half goal for the Beavers. Nicole Lyons had an assist, and Kaeliegh Barker made 13 saves.
Women’s basketball
Central Maine CC 56, Unity 37
At Unity, Quintina Young had 10 points and 16 rebounds to lead Central Maine Community College to the win.
Amanda Webb and Kerri Harris added 16 points apiece for the winners.
Kelley Young had 13 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 blocks for Unity, and Loretta Fitzmaurice 10 points.

At Northampton, Mass., Dalyn Houser netted two goals as Smith College shut out Saint Joseph’s of Standish.
Ashley Bauer and Danielle Schmandt each added a goal. Marlowe Dieckman stopped seven of eight shots for the 12-7-1 Pioneers.
Shannon Northrop made four saves on eight shots as the Monks end their season at 11-9.
