NORTON, Mass. – Three different players scored to lead Wheaton College past Husson College 3-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday. Wheaton extended its winning streak to 19 games and ended Husson’s win streak at 13.

NORTON, Mass. – Three different players scored to lead Wheaton College past Husson College 3-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament on Saturday.

Wheaton extended its winning streak to 19 games and ended Husson’s win streak at 13.

Jenna Stiegler scored on an Erin Davis assist at 37:03 in the first half for 21-1-1 Wheaton. Lauren Konopka added a goal on an Abby Isaac assist at 43:01 in the first half.

In the second half, Angelamaria Viscomi scored off a Lyndsey McManus assist at 66:27. Elana Cockburn and Stacey Kronenberg combined to stop two of eight shots.

Leah Drew made 13 saves on 35 shots for 17-4-1 Husson.

Men’s soccer

Ohio Dominican 4, UMFK 0

At Rio Grande, Ohio, Joey Held scored twice to lead nationally ranked Ohio Dominican University past the University of Maine at Fort Kent in an NAIA Region IX-X men’s soccer semifinal on Friday.

Shan Wade and Scott Shrewsbury added goals for 15-4-1 ODU, ranked 21st in the nation.

Derek Plourde made seven saevs on 11 shots for the 13-3 Bengals.

Men’s basketball

UMFK 90, Mount Allison 81

At Fort Kent on Sunday, Rystis Kriunas scored 29 points and dished out six assists Sunday as UMFK topped Mount Allison University of Sackville, New Brunswick, in the finale of the Bengal Tip-Off Classic.

Hamill Bassue added 18 points and Darius Parker had season-highs of 17 points and nine rebounds for the Bengals.

Jordan Allen chipped in with 13 points for 3-1 UMFK, while Doyle Anthony had 22 points and seven rebounds for Mount Allison.

Kriunas and Bassue represented UMFK on the all-tournament team, and were joined by Tim McAleenan of Mount Allison, Dan Budd of St. Thomas and Steve Cyr of Central Maine Community College.

At Fort Kent on Saturday, Rytis Kriunas scored 16 points and dished out five assists while Hamill Bassue added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Bengals.

Women’s hockey

Maine, Providence tie twice

At Alfond Arena in Orono Sunday, sophomore Genevieve Turgeon made 46 saves and Sonia Corriveau scored the tying goal on the power play with 15 seconds left in the second period as the Bears and Friars battled to their second 1-1 tie in as many days.

Maine is 3-7-2 overall, 0-4-2 in Hockey East while Providence is 3-5-2, 2-1-2, respectively.

Kelly Law and Chantal Jaillet assisted on Corriveau’s goal.

Kristin Gigliotti scored for the Friars off a Mari Pehkonen assist.

Jana Budgen made 24 saves.

On Saturday, Robyn Law scored on a Brigitte Laflamme assist 2:51 into the third period but Providence College tied it later in the period to force overtime.

Gigliotti scored off a two-man advantage with 24 seconds remaining to tie it. Danielle Ciarletta stopped 22 shots.

Rachel Gettings made 26 saves for the Black Bears.
