A Bangor man was arrested Saturday night after stabbing another local man with a small utility knife, Bangor police said.

Bangor police went to 67 Pine St. after a man called and said that he had been stabbed, according to reports. Officers found the caller at the Mobil gas station up the street; he said he was “all set” and didn’t want to press charges.

Officers then found David Presutte, 33, of Bangor, at the address given to dispatchers. According to reports, he appeared calm and was sitting in a chair in front of a broken television, and the residence was in a shambles.

Presutte was handcuffed as a safety precaution, said police, and was asked if he had hit or stabbed anyone. He said he “didn’t think so, but things were crazy.” Friends had come and were insistent that he leave with them, according to reports, but all he remembers is pushing them out of the apartment.

A Leatherman Micra utility knife was found on Presutte, and the small, inch-long blade matched the puncture wound on the victim’s lower left stomach, according to police.

The victim, a 32-year-old Bangor man, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. He was visibly intoxicated and later told police he didn’t remember telling them that he had been stabbed, according to reports.

Presutte was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault.

A Hampden man was arrested on motor vehicle charges after a woman called 911 around 6 p.m. Sunday because she was afraid that he, her ex-boyfriend, was going to assault her, Hampden police said.

The two still live together, according to reports. When Gilbert Belanger, 49, arrived home, he become angry that the woman hadn’t cleaned the house and started punching things and yelling, she told police. The woman told dispatchers that Belanger had left the house and was on Pond Road in his truck.

According to reports, Hampden police stopped Belanger on his way down Pond Road. Dispatch confirmed that he did not have a license and that the plates on his truck were from another vehicle.

Gilbert was arrested and charged with illegal attachment of license plates and operating after revocation of his driver’s license. He remained at the Penobscot County Jail as of Sunday night.
