PORTLAND – Mountain Valley used two Andy Shorey touchdown passes to rally from a 10-point halftime deficit and earn a 24-16 victory over Winslow in the Class B state football championship game.

The Falcons of Rumford completed a 12-0 season with the win over the Black Raiders. The game was a rematch of the 2004 state final in which Mountain Valley defeated Winslow 21-7.

This time, the Black Raiders (10-2) rolled out to a 16-6 lead on touchdown runs by John Goulette and Justin Lindie and a safety. Mountain Valley’s Devin Roberts ran for a touchdown but was tackled in the endzone for a Winslow safety.

After halftime, Justin Staires caught a 66-yard pass from Shorey to make it 16-12. Roberts snagged a 47-yard Shorey pass in the fourth to put the Falcons up for good and Matt Laubauskas capped the scoring with a 3-yard run late in the game.
