CARIBOU – Two men were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly burglarizing a local business twice and stealing about $1,000 worth of copper, according to Officer Kevin St. Peter of the Caribou Police Department.
Shawn Bragg, 22, of Washburn, and Jeremiah Michaud, 29, of Caribou, were arrested without incident on two counts of burglary each and two counts of theft each, following an investigation by local police, St. Peter said Monday.
Bragg also was charged with violation of condition of release.
According to a report compiled by Officer Keith Ouellette, investigating officer, Caribou police learned that the two suspects allegedly entered a structure on Birdseye Avenue in Caribou at least twice. On Nov. 18, they allegedly took 120 pounds of copper. They allegedly returned on Oct. 17 and took about 200 pounds of copper. Police said the copper was sold for cash. Copper prices are at about $3 per pound right now.
Michaud made his $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 21 on the charges. Bragg was transported to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. He was slated for his first appearance in court on Monday.
Ouellette was assisted by Caribou Officer Doug Bell on the case.
