ROCKLAND – A local man suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his speeding vehicle after it hit a puddle and crashed into a furniture store on Main Street Friday.
Morgan Ward, 23, of Rockland was treated for minor cuts and bruises after the 1:24 a.m. accident.
Deputy Police Chief Wallace Tower said Ward was traveling north on Main Street when his vehicle went into a skid and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Ward told police that when he took “evasive action” to avoid an oncoming car, he lost control and crashed into Dow Furniture. The collision damaged the building’s brick facade.
“Speed was definitely a factor,” Tower said Friday.
Tower said that damages to the car and building were estimated at $7,500. The accident remains under investigation.
