Jingle bell time is a swell time – to shop the night away. And you and all your friends can mix and a-mingle to a jingling beat at Fusion’s holiday auction and cocktail party, featuring work by artisans in the Maine Highlands Guild.
The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Isaac Farrar Mansion in Bangor, and the admission cost of $10 per person includes music, a wine tasting and food, as well as the chance to participate in the auction. Proceeds will benefit the individual artists and the guild, which markets the work of local artisans both within Maine and nationally.
Seven of those artisans have created items especially for the auction. Among the items up for bid are a modern quilt by Gabriella d’Italia of Spring Street Co. in Newburgh; a longleaf pine cone sculpture by Stillwood Pottery in Orono; flower garland jewelry by Sue Berryhill of Winddancer Designs in Garland; a handmade cherry and birdseye maple rocking chair by Sunny Stutzman and Brian Smith of Dover-Foxcroft; an etched slate work of art from Conrad Marsh of Dover-Foxcroft; a glass lamp by Irvin Krupke of Bangor; and a hand-painted goose egg ornament from internationally renowned artist Alan Bray of Sangerville.
In addition to the auction items, five one-of-a-kind holiday ornaments will be sold. Other pieces by Maine Highlands Guild artisans will be on sale through the holiday season at a kiosk in the Bangor Mall. For information on the guild, visit themainehighlands-guild.org.
