Maine Highlands Guild

BANGOR – Bangor Savings Bank will announce a major sponsorship of Maine Highlands Guild during a celebration with local artisans and Fusion:Bangor. The holiday showcase of handmade works will be held at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Isaac Farrar Mansion.

The bank’s strategic philanthropy efforts include supporting and promoting Maine’s Creative Economy.

With a multiyear gift of $100,000 to the Maine Highland’s Guild, as well as a commitment of time and energy to assist the guild in reaching its business goals for growth, officials said they hope to see this segment of the Maine economy become a sustainable, significant sector.

Bangor Savings Bank’s CEO, Jim Conlon, said, “We know this is the right thing to do. Our focus on the Creative Economy, and in particular the Maine Highlands Guild, is good for the bank; good for a substantial group of highly talented small business people; and good for the entire state of Maine.”

“The generous support from Bangor Savings Bank will help the Maine Highlands Guild reach its goals,” said Tracy Stutzman, executive director of Maine Highlands Guild. “We are dedicated to improving the economy and communities of The Maine Highlands – Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties.”

The holiday season event has been organized in conjunction with Fusion:Bangor, which last month announced Bangor Savings Bank major sponsorship of its rapidly growing, young professionals’ association.

Yellow Light Breen, Senior Vice President said, “Bangor Savings Bank is serious about investing in Maine’s future. Young professional groups such as Fusion:Bangor, talented small business people like those who are part of the Maine Highlands Guild, and tomorrow’s workforce are all elements of what will make Maine the best place to live, work and thrive.”
