ST AGATHA – George Neavoll, a private book collector and former editorial page editor of the Portland Press Herald and Maine Sunday Telegram, has made a donation recently to the newly formed Long Lake Public Library in St. Agatha.

“We have been working hard at fundraising to make renovations to our space, purchase equipment and shelving, but you need books to fill the library,” Jackie Ayotte, president of the board of directors of the Long Lake Public Library, said in a press release. “Mr. Neavoll’s collection will fill half of our library when we open. It is truly a blessing.”

Neavoll says it gives him great joy to donate his small library collection to a place that reminds him of the rural Oregon farming community of his youth.
