I was appalled by the letter “Muslims and terrorism” (BDN, Nov. 28). The writer expressed everything that could possibly be wrong with our society’s current view of the Muslim religion.
I am not a Muslim nor do I have any hint of Middle Eastern descent. I am an outraged citizen disgusted at the continued bigotry that the people in this country show. It’s not even the extroverted problem that I am outraged with, it is the subtle, seemingly harmless prejudices that many in this country seem to harbor and not even realize. The letter I found to be hurtful and bigoted, especially when the writer ended with, “so I ask the Muslim community, how do I tell the good guys from the bad guys?”
I pose a similar question: When the Ku Klux Klan was at its strongest, would it be fair for all black people to think that all white people were part of the Klan? The answer is a resounding no, and the same is true for the Muslim community.
