Husson rolls by Mount Ida in league opener

NEWTON, Mass. – Shelby Pickering tossed in 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Husson College women’s basketball team opened NAC conference play with a 72-20 victory over Mount Ida College Friday.

Carmen Ballard and Holly Gracie chipped in 14 points apiece for the Eagles while Annie McIntosh added seven points and 12 rebounds.

Kristin Santos paced the Mount Ida Mustangs with 23 points.

At Standish, Carolyn Freeman scored 16 points and recorded 10 rebounds to lead Saint Joseph’s College to victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the Merry Monk Classic.

Meg Willette and Megan Farrell each added 11 points for the Monks. Allison Miner had eight points and nine rebounds.

Erica Davis paced the Owls with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Amy Miles led Thomas with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kim Drosdik and Karen Demers scored 14 points apiece.

Matia Kostakis paced Bates with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lauren Yanofsky and Val Beckwith each added 11 points while Sarah Barton and Teal Carroll had 10 apiece.

At Newton, Mass., Tyler Muzzy scored 17 points and had seven rebounds to lead Husson College to the win over Mount Ida College.

Scott Kissinger scored 15 points for the Eagles and Martin Cleveland added 11 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Jason Harvey scored 10 points.

Doug Williams paced Mount Ida with 15 points.
