Cross country skiers across the state are still waiting for snow to fall, but the Rangeley Lakes XC Ski Club is already offering a few new incentives to those who might want to use its world-class facilities this winter.

The club is offering a 10-ski pass for $100, a savings of $60 over regular weekly rates.

Another incentive: Show your current season pass from any other ski area and buy your adult day pass for just $10.

A new FIS standard 5-kilometer trail was constructed, with Class A climbs and a winding downhill section that finishes in a new stadium area.

The first skiers to use the new trail will be those competing in the Rangeley Opener on Dec. 30.

Bowhunters plan charity shoots

The Maine Bowhunters Association will hold two Christmas Charity Shoots on Dec. 10.

One will be held at the Old Town Archery Shop from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and the other will be held at The Great Outdoors in Winthrop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

For more information on the shoots, call Scott Abbott at 356-6523 (Old Town event) or Butch Tripp at 576-7598 (Winthrop event).
