BANGOR – A Bronx, N.Y., resident and a 17-year-old male, also from the Bronx, were arrested Monday after allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agent.

After purchasing the drugs Sunday, the MDEA obtained a search warrant Monday for the 50 Parker St. residence in Bangor at which the two were staying.

Jorge Torres, 19, was arrested on two counts of trafficking in cocaine and a count of violating conditions of his bail. His juvenile counterpart was arrested for alleged trafficking in cocaine.

Agents who worked with Bangor Police Department detectives found approximately 1 ounce of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $2,800, at the residence. Numerous stolen items also were found that allegedly were traded with Torres for drugs. Stolen items recovered include a TV and other electronics.

“A number of people are coming up from the Bronx to sell drugs,” Garry Higgins, the local Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor, said Friday. “We’ve seen quite a bit of it.”

Drug dealers are not coming just from New York, he added, listing places in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Torres remained in Penobscot County Jail on Friday, and the juvenile was referred to juvenile intake, Higgins said. Torres is scheduled to appear in Penobscot County Superior Court on Jan. 12, a jail official said.
