Burns helps unbeaten MMA cruise

NEWTON, Mass. – Alyssa Burns recorded 19 points, 13 rebounds and six assists to lead Maine Maritime Academy to a 72-39 women’s basketball victory over Mount Ida Saturday.

Julia Knights added 13 points and eight boards and Michelle Gott-Stillwell had 12 points and four assists for the winners.

Adrienne Xenos led Mustangs with 15 points.

At Gorham Saturday, Ashley Marble tallied 20 points, eight rebounds and seven steals to lead the University of Southern Maine past UMass Dartmouth.

Stacey Kent added 15 points and Nicole Paradis chipped in 12 points and four assists. Katie Sibley had 11 points, seven assists and five steals for the Huskies.

Vicki Andruszkiewicz tossed in 17 points for 2-4 UMass Dartmouth.

At Wadsworth Gym in Waterville Sunday, Katie McCabe scored 18 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds as Colby held off Thomas in overtime.

Alison Cappelloni and Courtney Williams added 16 points apiece. Cappelloni also gathered in 11 rebounds and Kathleen Nicholson contributed 12 points and a game-high seven assists.

Kim Drosdik had a game-high 26 points for Thomas and Amy Miles chipped in with 16 along with seven rebounds. Karen Demers scored 12 points.
