A tisket, a tasket – a John Deere-themed basket?

Yep.

At Hammond Street Senior Center’s silent auction of gift baskets, you never know what you’ll find. Donors have given a total of 95 baskets, filled with presents for the cook (a vintage apron, cookbook and rolling pin for the cook); the outdoor enthusiast ($200 worth of goodies from Epic Sports); and the car buff (booster cables, an air compressor), to name a few.

The baskets are on view at the senior center, located at 2 Hammond St. in Bangor, through Friday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you know your basket number, you can call in for bidding updates. And all proceeds benefit the services that the senior center provides.

“Every dollar raised by this auction will go toward maintaining the classes, programs and social atmosphere at HSSC that are so helpful in assisting seniors to remain vibrant, healthy and physically fit,” said Kathy Bernier, the center’s executive director.

Oh, and just so you know – the tractor is sold separately. But you may need it to haul off your auction finds.
