To recognize the victims of Pearl Harbor, President Bush and Gov. John Baldacci have directed the U.S. and Maine flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset today.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

In Bangor, the public is invited to a small commemorative ceremony planned for noon today on the pedestrian bridge over Kenduskeag Stream.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was established to honor the 2,400 Americans who died in the attack and those who fought in World War II.
